Holy Crap!

Remember that job that I applied for? The one that there was no way I could get because I missed the deadline but everyone convinced me to send in my packet anyway, just in case?

Well, they just called and want to set up a phone interview.

I am so not ready for this. On so many levels.

Hee! Congratulations!

Thanks!

Congrats! If the phone interview doesn't go well, you're no worse off than you'd thought you were yesterday, right? But, that said, I hope the interview goes smoothly.

Thanks. Didn't you just do some interviews lately? Any tips for me? It's been about 5 years since I had an interview and the last one was for a job I was almost guaranteed to get.

I had a phone interview a couple of weeks ago. It turned out that the person interviewing me wanted me to work for 10K less than I'm making now, which just wasn't going to happen.

One thing that I noticed was that the interviewer knew my resume really well. More so than the folks at face-to-face interviews--I suspect she had it right in front of her. So it might be good to have a copy of whatever you sent to the employer handy, especially if you've been sending out different versions of things. I've been sending out education and publishing versions of my resume, and the interview was for a university publishing job, which made me wonder just what I'd sent the interviewer.

Hope this helps.

Yay!!!!! You ARE ready for this. I'm so glad you sent in the application.

Yeah, me too. Thanks for the encouragement.

How cool! Just remember to breathe.

Yeah, I'm feeling a bit better now. I'd sort of gotten into this mom mode and the lawyer part of me feels a bit dusty.

Awesome, Steph! Rock their world!

[identity profile] ste-noni.livejournal.com 2006-02-08 10:21 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! Good luck to you too. Would you be moving to the Bay Area? That sounds so cool.

[identity profile] spectralbovine.livejournal.com 2006-02-08 10:23 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I would. It's freaking me out.

Not only would you be close to tons of buffistas, but I think the BA is such a cool place. We lived in Monterey for a while a few years back and I loved it.

Congrats! Best of luck on the phone interview.

Thanks! I'm nervous but at least I don't have to get dressed up.

Yea!

You are *so* ready for it, on every level. You only have one very tiny goal--to get them to realize how wonderful you are and that you're perfect for the job. Okay? Go get 'em!

Thanks. I'm nervous now because I can't find the job description. I likned to it but now that it has closed, it's gone. I think I remember it, though. My interview is tomorrow at 3:30 so think good thoughts.
