My Ultrasound

Now that I've called everyone and processed the FIL conversation (see previous post), I can get back to thinking about the happy stuff.
I'm so excited to be having a baby girl. I would have been happy either way, but like I posted at b.org, I feel more familiar or comfortable with a baby girl. Plus, you can buy so many cute little clothes.
I didn't particularly like the ultrasound tech. She told me early on she knew the gender, but she wouldn't tell me until she could show me. Fine, if that's their policy. But she was really weird about telling me. She wanted me to guess. I hate that, even with small stuff. Finally she told me. She was showing me something on the screen - it looked like a labia to me, but that's the only thing I could see and it wasn't very clear. So when I asked her how she knew, she was like "Clearly, that is a labia" like everyone would have known that.
I did see the baby yawning and waving her hands around. She's getting bigger, which is cool to see. I have a great ultrasound picture of her little feet which I'll put on my website for Joe tomorrow.
I'm also taking part in this pre-term labor study. I don't have to do anything very special, but they do sample my blood, saliva, etc. Today, I had to produce about a mL of drool (not spit, cause that has bubbles). They wanted me to drool into a straw into this tube. I've had a really easily-triggered gag reflex since I got pregnant and this triggered it. Just the feeling of the saliva on my mouth triggered major gagging. The good part was that I filled up the tube right away and I'm used to it by now.
All in all, I'm very happy to know she's a girl and now we just have to get busy and find out her name.
