DONE!!!!

Home!!

Kids v tired/crabby/whiny but they had a good time.

Felt good about test but I won't tempt fate by discussing it much.

Sort of irritated with friend who bailed on dog sitting two hours before we left on Friday. Found a replacement but the dogs were v. happy to see us.

Watching friends dog until Sunday. Nice dog but she is v. wary of Frisco and curled her lip at him. This scares me.

Half way done for today. Feeling pretty good. Resisting strong urge to look up answers.

So, job interview tomorrow. Of course, Frisco came home clingy which quickly motphed into sleepy demands to nurse. He fell asleep at about 5 and slept till 8. At 8, I did everything the doctors have suggested for his occasional dry cough. (I think it's a post RSV thing. I'm certain he had it in PR months ago.). Of course, as usual nothing works. We nurse/cough/doze in a daze until I finally had had enough. I drove to Walgreens in my pajamas and got some Delsym. ( Not to be used on kids under four although it was still approved when Ellie was born.) I gave him the Dr. Sears recommended dose and now, finally, he's asleep in my arms.

He gets this cough often and nothing works but the good/bad stuff. But he'll never get better if he can't rest. And now, to bed myself. I'm just praying he wakes up well enough to go to school. At least until 1, although Joe will take him if Frisco is too sick.

Irritated

Generally, I get along well with my parents. Over Christmas, I took my computer and power cord when we went to visit. I never took the cord into the house but I assume Joe did because it wasn't in the car. When it came time to leave, my dad insisted that all the cords laying around the house belonged to them. (we all have Mac laptops.). I had never brought mine in or seen one I thought was mine so I assumed that mine was in a bag somewhere.

When I unpacked, no power cord. So I called and my mom thought they had an extra but my dad said no, they were all theirs. They were on their way to see my brother so I asked them to check when they got home. I called today and asked my dad if hey had an extra one lying around. He said no, ifthey sent me one, they would have to go buy one. Well, I don't want that; I just want mine back.

Joe and have been sharing since we got back but Joe is headed to Florida tomorrow. I'd be happy to just buy one but they are $80 and money is tight until next payday. But I need my computer for work, although we do have a desktop downstairs.

But I'm sort of mad at my dad because last September he visited and left with my power cord despite swearing that he didn't have it. And I asked him twice.

The one lesson learned is that when I do get a cord, I'm putting my name on it with permanent marker.

So, despite brushing his teeth twice a day with fluoride for the last four months, I saw a tiny black spot in the center of one of his upper molars. I took him in and he has 3-4 cavities including one on the same tooth that caused Ellie so much trouble.

We have an appointment with a new dentist (ellie's sedation dentist couldn't see Frisco until late Jan) next Tuesday. He's a little small for sedation but thedentist seemed to think it was best for so many cavities.

I, of course, feel like I suck, although this time I know I have been doing everything short of flossing a one year old's teeth. I will, however, be working hard on night weaning since I'm now convinced that, at least for my children, night nursing has at least contributes to the problem.

Don't know when I'll be back again!

(I had a longer version that LJ ate.). Basically, I'm thrilled to be going and very pleased we got it all done.

Oh, and I won my first case in court. More on that later.

I will miss the ocean.

We already signed a lease for a house in Colorado, and while we signed two weeks ago, our lease starts 1 July. Nothing was said about when to pay our deposit/first months rent but I had the bank send the checks dated 1 July. Just now I got an email from the manager asking if there is a problem because the landlord had not received the check yet.

When I explained all of the above, they seemed fine but I didn't really appreciate in insinuation that we were paying late. Plus, on top of all our other expenses in the last two weeks (over $2000 so far), the check was over $4000 (kind of a larger than normal deposit) and we still dont have our current deposit back. Why would I pay early?

I was driving home from running this morning when I saw a small thing like a pipe on the road on front of me. I tried to swerve bit hit it anyway. After I felt my car hit it, the wheel started pulling I that side. I tried to stop, bit I was inthe intersection and then ok the on ramp and then on the highway with no shoulder.

These two very questionable looking guys in an old, cracked windshield, rusty car followed
Me to a stop and asked me if I wanted help. I said yes, and then texted Joe just in case they were going to kidnap me.

Turned out they were very nice and had my tire changed in less than 10 minutes. I had my phone tucked into my pants just in case. Anyway, it was very nice of them to stop. They refused my money and waived to me when they got off at the next exit.

Ellie had a high fever for a few hours yesterday and then it went away. Same thing again in the middle of the night. We are going to the dentist to check for another abscess. I am freaked out. If you are the praying kind, I would appeciate prays that this is just a virus and not another tooth thing. I'm freaked out she will lose another tooth.

Update

So, I'm sitting outside the local coffee shop in Jemez Springs headed tobthe oral surgeon.

Quick update- Ellie was in the hospital for almost a week and got out last Friday. Her swelling from the abscess is gone but we still needed to resolve the tooth situation. We flew to Albuquerque on Wednesday (arriving at 1am and the stupid TSA people felt the need to open all Ellies get well cards.). Anyway, yesterday Ellie saw the pediatric dentist who reconmended that an oral surgeon take out her two front teeth. So, we are our way to do that this morning. After that, we drive to Colo. Springs to see the housing and get the kids signed up and on the waiting list for daycare. Then back to NM on Sunday morning.

I'm a bit upset about her losing her teeth but I really liked the dentist and trust his judgment. Okay, got to get driving again.

Ellie

We are at a new hospital. They say Ellie needs about five days of IV antibiotics. We should have an oral surgeon consult today or tomorrow. We were supposed to go to New Mexico to go house hunting next Wednesday but now I think we will try to get her teeth dealt with while we are there.

I am trying to let yesterdas fiasco go. We got three different "could go to her brain. Very serious" opinions at the first hospital. They were supposed to transfer us to a TRICARE accepting hospital. Then for some reason that fell through and when we refused to pay cash (first $2800, then $3300, then $2500) Ellie was miraculously healed two hours later and sent home.

We took her to her regular pediatrician who did more blood work and said, yeah, she needs IV AB definitely. We got the okay to take her home last night and we came here to the new hospital this morning. My mom got here yesterday and it is really helpful to have another adult here. Hopefully we will leave the ER for her room soon but it is pretty quiet here.

I can't seem to edit on the iPhone.

Ellie's swollen face is an abscess. They want to pull her three remaining top front teeth but since the entire left side of her face is now swollen they want to wait until Thursday to give the antibiotics time to work.

I feel like a total shit parent.

Oh, and my mom just told me that her dad died last night. More on that later I'm sure.

My Kindle just arrived! I haven't read (hardly any) books in years. I need reccomendations!!

So, the big deal three start general just asked Joe to stay here, probably for three more years. I would be okay with it bit Colorado is like the promised land for us. And how do I tell my mom wee aren't going. Bit there is no chance of deployment if we stay. The job would be less stressful. The kids could stay at the daycare I love. I could keep working here.

But I really really want to be in Colorado. I love that place. And I so was looking forward to Panera, Trader Joe, mom nearby, mountains, and the rest

Argh!!!!

Are there kid socks that have no seams? Because I am so tired of fighting about seam positioning every morning and would happily pay for seamless socks.

I'm thinking about getting one of those spinning light toys (where you put it in the middle of the room and it shines shapes on the walls) for my son but I'm not sure what they are called. Does anyone have any cool suggestions?

Im looking for a positive way to describe a musician who isn't as famous as Madonna or even Ben Folds Five, bit who is successful enough that he supports himself and his family playing music, recording and performing. I had "up and coming" bit I don't like that.
