Taking Out the Trash
Jun. 28th, 2007 05:01 amThis is so minor in the scheme of things I don't really mean it to be complaining...
Our trash guys regularly come through between 3:30 and 5:00 am. First, a guy walks down the street and takes all the bins out of their little holders. Then the big truck comes down the street and they put the trash in the truck. The street is narrow to begin with and people, including us, park on the sides of it because the driveways are so narrow. Basically, we just alternate our cars so there is only one on a side at any one point.
Anyway, the truck is big so there's always lots of yelling and back-up beeping as the truck goes down our cul-de-sac. Ellie *loves* the trash truck. I woke up this morning and thought I heard the truck's rumble so, leaving Ellie asleep upstairs, I ran down at 4:45am and started putting our trash out. (If you put it out the night before, all the feral cats will go through the bags.) Anyway, as I was hoisting the trash can out of the ground (they are kept in the ground) I got bit by ants on my hands.
It's 4:55 am and I've already been bit by ants. Doesn't bode well for the day...
eta: as we were leaving the house this morning, the trash truck was coming down the street. I think it made Ellie's morning. She has now added "stinky trash truck" to her vocabulary.
