Accomplished today:

1.  Shipping car - found out we need
*appointment day - June 10 - DONE
*certificate of no stolen parts on car
*certificate of no pending traffic tickets
*car to be washed and cleaned
*letter from bank okaying shipping - DONE

2.  Moving our stuff - nothing done, but the guy said he will make it happen once we get the orders and he has a lot of latitude, including pack out on the weekend

3.  Lodging
* Ft. Buchanan - not done yet; system down
*Caribe Hilton - not done; Joe has to do
*Ft. Carson - DONE
*Ft. Belvoir - no room on post so I need to find a off-post hotel and make a reservation there.

4. ID Card - DONE (I needed a new one before we leave)

5. Dogs
*price estimate - $600 plus whatever random taxes they throw in
*date - probably June 13th, waiting on approval from my parents
*time - 4:32pm; arrive ABQ 10:14pm
*need to call back with kennel sizes

6.  Travel
*SJU to COS - 22 June, prefer something after 10am.  Will have 4 seats.  Need to decide if we are taking car seats (I think we need to take both) and stroller (I think double jogging stroller so we can use it while getting settled)
*ABQ to DCA - 8 July, Frontier has a great rate ($143) at good times, but need to wait for orders to purchase.  Need to decide if we are buying 3 or 4 seats.  Normally I'd say 3 but they are only $143 and it's a long flight.  Will need two car seats again, plust stuff for wedding for all four of us.  Need to check if Joe needs his uniform for the wedding.  Also, who will pick us up?  Would ask G family but they are the wedding family, so maybe O&P?

7.  Stuff not done

8.  We sure could use some orders.  And a place to live in Colorado.

The stuff that really makes you crazy is the money. For example, the Army will give Joe 10 days of "free vacation" to look for a house but they wo'nt reimburse any expenses during that time. They also give him 10 "hotel days" (i.e. not his leave status, but for finance purposes) to cover moving, but those count on both ends (i.e. we will use 5 here in PR and 5 in Colorado). They don't pay for the dogs or the second car. Also, they only pay certain hotel rates while traveling. But the rate they pay depends on whether or not we are staying on post and if we are off post, whether that is because there was no room on post or we just chose off post.

They will pay for him to fly from here to DC to attend his course, but not the family since we aren't authorized to attend the course. They will pay for us to fly direct to Colorado but not Joe since he's supposed to go to DC.

They will pay for him to travel from DC to Colorado by car (hotels/food/traveling 350 miles a day) but not the family, since we are supposed to fly. Thankfully, us going with him only adds food expenses. They will advance us some, but not all required, money to cover this move.

The bottomline is that we should only be paying out of pocket for Joe to fly to Colorado and the kids and myself to fly to DC. And food during our drive with our cars back to Colorado. But we won't actually know what will get paid at what rate until Joe settles it all in August in Colorado.
