Joe and I went to see Harry Potter yesterday. We tried to go on Saturday, but the movie theatre was showing it at a different time than what was listed so we missed out. I had just re-read all the books this summer so the story itself was fresh in my mind. I was glad they cut down on the whole Quidditch World Cup section. It took so long to read through all that and it wasn't really all that great. I also thought they did a much better job of making Barty Crouch Jr. not come from nowhere. I noticed small clues the second time around but when I read the book the first time, I remember feeling a bit of whiplash over the whole Mad-Eye Moody/Crouch thing.

We took Ellie with us and she did really well. She slept for the first hour (including the previews) and for the second hour she just played on my lap with some quiet toys. If this had been a different kind of movie, I might have objected to the distraction, but I already knew what was coming here and I was just enjoying seeing it. Starting with the maze challenge, we nursed/stood in the corner/sat on the stop and played with toys. She was quiet but was just tired of sitting. If there is another movie we really want to see (like LWW next weekend) we might try to go in the evening. I think she would sleep through a 8 or 9 pm movie.

Summary: I enjoyed the movie and I really enjoyed our "date" even if Ellie went with us.

Cool! We *almost* went to LWW in Germany, but Robert thought Mallory wouldn't do well at all. I'm glad Ellie was good, and I'm glad you guys got out of the house for a bit.
