You all did such a great job suggestion futon places for [livejournal.com profile] calligrafiti that I thought you might have some help for me.

I'm going out of town from Mar 31 - Apr 3 for a cousin's wedding. I'm looking for someone to either house/pet sit (in Sanford) or a place in the RTP area where I can take the dogs, but not have them locked in kennels 12+ hours a day.

I've checked craigslist and the phone book, etc., but in my past experience, I've always found the best people through word of mouth. They are two very cute, medium-sized dogs. So if you know someone who likes dogs and would like to do something like this, I'd love to talk to them.

and I"m bored, so here goes:

Friday Five

Are you sending any valentines this year?
I sent one to my husband about a week ago.

Did you do anything to celebrate Fat Tuesday?
This year, nope.

Are you giving anything up for lent?
My tradition was always more about the celebration of Easter, so no.

When was your last haircut?
Last June. I really want to get it cut but I can't decide how.

Last manicure or pedicure by a professional?
Same time - back in June.

I think I'm going to sell our car tomorrow. I'm taking it to this place that buys used cars without having to buy one of theirs. The reasons for getting rid of this car are:

1. Mileage is now 88K.
2. It's a Chrysler Concorde which worked fine for its purpose when I got it but it will not hold a baby, two dogs and luggage. The dogs will drive the baby crazy and probably step on her.

The down side to getting rid of the car:

1. We owe more on the loan that the car is worth. There are reasons for this that made sense at the time, but now it's a bummer.
2. If I sell the car to the car place, I know I will get less (maybe as much as 1K less) then if I sold it to a person. But I just don't think I have the energy to go to the trouble of advertising and finding a buyer.

Selling the car now will save us from having to make payments on two cars until June, when I buy the car that will hold babies and dogs. This will make up some of the money I will lose by selling the easy way. I truly think this is the best way to do it, but I still feel like I'm getting screwed. This is when I miss Joe the most. I don't need him to swoop in and fix the problem - I just wish he was here to tell me that I'm doing a good job managing our lives while he's gone.
