The Weekend - Better than I thought
Dec. 3rd, 2006 09:27 pmJoe has some important people visiting from NC - his former boss, his daughter, her friend, and the boss's right hand guy. They are all great people and having them here has been a lot of fun.
I went out to dinner with them on Friday night before Joe got back. Ellie was so good at dinner and I really enjoyed talking to them. Then on Saturday, I had to work in the morning (Ellie did great at my friend's house, enormously relieving my guilt) and then she slept for 4 hours in the afternoon. We went out to dinner last night at this great restaurant in Pinones. The restaurant was right on the beach. There was a wonderful breeze and a full moon. It was the first time I've eaten outside here and been pleasantly cool. Once again, Ellie was great. Today, we spent the entire day walking around Old San Juan. Ellie handled most of the trip very well and took a long nap when we got home. And, Joe and I spent about 30 minutes together cleaning up the house. I got all Ellie's toys organized, threw away the crap (like the Happy Meals toys), rotated her toys and put away some stuff she has outgrown. I think we are ready for the giant influx of Christmas toys and I feel so much better because the house is picked up. I made almost no progress on putting away the clean laundry, but Joe will be gone all night tomorrow so I'll do it then. I also need to change the sheets on the bed/Ellie's crib but that will have to wait until tomorrow as well.
The next project I need to work on is Christmas gifts. I've decided to send everyone "Puerto Rico baskets" with some stuff from here. It feels like a bit of a cop out because it's not all that individual, but it's different and it's hard to know exactly what to get Joe's family since I rarely see them. So, I need a total of five baskets (my parents, my brother and wife, Joe's parents, his brother and wife, and a combined one for Joe's sisters who live together.) Also, I already have birthday and Christmas presents for my 3 y.o. niece, so I just need to worry about the 7 y.o. one now.
I already have the baskets so I just need to get something to stuff them with. Then I plan on putting 2-3 food items from around here (I think I know where I can get those), and maybe a little souvenir type thing. Also, I think I'll put something with the three kings on it since they are really big here. I can probably get what I need in 2-3 trips, total. then I just have to find some things for my older niece. Oh, and my b.org santee - not sure yet what to get there. I feel like I know my person but I"m still not sure what to get her. Hmmm - I'll have to see.
