I originally started this journal as a place to vent how I was feeling. The idea was that I could vent about people IRL to my friends on the internet and have a free little world of my own. However, as time has gone on, more and more IRL folks have asked to follow Ellie's progress, see pictures, etc. This is great, but I don't necessarily want all those people also following the other sort of stuff I like to write in here. Locking is fine, but it doesn't always do what I want.

Also, while I totally love the flist feature of LJ, I am wary of filling up my friends' lists with endless posts about "today Ellie did this". People might want to read that sort of stuff, but there was a point in my life where other people's baby stuff made me crazy and I don't want to inflict it on the unwilling.

So, I've created an entirely separate journal where I can write ad nauseum about Ellie and her adventures (such as they are). If anyone wants to read along, that is great. If it's not your cup of tea, that's great too.

Oh, yes, a link would be nice, wouldn't it? New blog here

eta: I'm going to assume that some other people might be as technologically un-saavy as I am and add this in.

After some help from [livejournal.com profile] gchick, I discovered that you can actually read my Munchkin blog posts on your flist by copying the "Site Feed" link at the bottom of my other blog and posting it in the box at the bottom of the page here. Perhaps everyone else does this all the time, but it was new to me and cool enough that I thought I would risk looking like a rube.

It looks like you don't have syndication set up -- would you mind putting up a feed? I don't want to lose your Ellie posts, but I'm terrible about remembering to go around visiting blogs.

Okay, super computer chick, how do I do that? (I wanted to do that and I'm trying to find the set-up, but haven't figured out how yet.)

Under your blog settings, look for the "site feed" tab. You'll have a pull-down menu asking whether you want to publish a feed, and another asking whether you want to feed full posts or just the subject line (and I'm lazy enough to wish for full posts); once you've got that set up, you'll have one of those little orange "XML" buttons that you've probably seen elsewhere, and the lazy among us can read all of your Ellie-blog posts through our flists.

Thanks! I'm glad to know it's working. I like the new icon, btw.

Oh, I've had it for months. Guess you just haven't seen it.

Yay for the feed info--I have a few of them, but only ones that I've found friends had and used, nothing that i've figured out on my own. Now I know! :)

Hmmm...I've been keeping a separate Mallory website, and you've inspired me to figure out how to make an RSS feed for it.

Cool! (btw, i'd love to read along, if you don't mind. It's fun to keep up with what the "big" babies are doing.)

That site feed is cool. I know nothing about blogs and don't want to add another thing to track to b.org and lj, though I'd love to keep up with Ellie. So now I can do both!!!

Thanks for teaching me something new! And I'm looking forward to checking out new pictures!
