I went to a "mommy group" this morning at a local church. The church has beautiful stained glass windows that I've always wanted to see from the inside. The women were really nice and the food was great. I wish there had been a bit more time for conversation - it was mostly speakers. The speakers were okay - neither were really interesting to me, but they were fine.

After about 45 minutes, the nursery people came to get me. Turns out Ellie had been crying mostly the whole time since I left her. She liked her Cheerios, but other than that, she was crying. This was a nicer, quieter place that the gym where we used to go and the kids were closer to Ellie's age. Still, it didn't work well. It's times like this that I really wish my mom lived close by or I had a good friend who was commonly available to baby sit. I think maybe if she was at home, she might do better. Still, frustrating. What's going to happen in a few months when I go back to work. I think about everything [livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre went through and I just dread it.

In random, happy baby news, Ellie had ringworm on her butt in mid-February. It had mostly been going away until four days ago when it turned really ugly looking. I was just on the verge of taking her to the doctor when my neighbor recommended I try "Fanny Cream". Overnight, the angry-looking red spot was almost completely gone. Her little butt looks so much better. I've tried googling Fanny Cream to learn more about it, but I only found one reference. Despite that, I'm so impressed. And relieved.

Does Google come up with sellers for it? In our post-mild constipation world, we've got a bit of redness to the rear. I'm hoping it clears up tonight, and I've got both Burt's Bees and Rear Schmear on it right now, but I'm always up for new weapons in the war against diaper rash! (We've been pretty lucky--she's not too rash prone.)

The first two weeks were bad, but she's pretty happy there now. If you go back when she's a year, you can even escape the horror that is pumping! (Six more weeks. Six more weeks.)

In other baby related news, the new BumGenius one-size pocket diaper really is all that. I'm insanely impressed with it. (I got really lucky, and was searching eBay just after someone had listed two as part of a Just Potty Trained sale. They had a decent Buy It Now. I'm in love.)

Thanks for the diaper tip - Ellie is sort of stuck between the FB small and medium right now. I've been thinking about trying something new but I'm sort of in love with pocket diapers.

According to my friend, Fanny Cream is also known as Dermacloud. At least around here, you just have to ask the pharmacist to mix some up for you. There's no prescription, but they have to make it in the back. Until this ringworm thing, I'd never used anything but corn starch on Ellie's butt, but this new cream was amazing. After 48 hours, the rash is gone and it was really bad. I found places to order Dermacloud on line, such as http://www.carolinamedical.com/Content/Dermacloud.htm (sorry it's not a hot link - but we are off to have pictures taken)

LJ automatically makes it a link. Thanks!

I've been trying a lot of pocket diapers--she was just entering most of the diapers' medium size when we started using them, so it's been a lot of fun to compare brands knowing I'll get a lot of use out of all the diapers.

Well, except for the Snap-Ez. Their medium is smaller than other mediums.

I didn't really like the Wonderoos, love the Swaddlebees (new style only) for a mobile baby, and until I tried the BumGenius (http://www.cottonbabies.com/index.php?cPath=98), I'd become loyal to Happy Heiny's solids for my go-to diaper.

Thanks for the tips. I decided a while back that I'm lazy in that I'm committed to pocket diapers but it's nice to know some of the other brands out there. I bought one of the bumGenius diapers and we will see how it works. I still love my FBs, but we've been having a problem lately. Ellie's still in size small, but lately they've been leaking under her legs, particularly when she's sitting in a car seat or high chair. (I think they might be too small but the mediums still seem too big.) I don't think I need to strip the diapers and I got a few suggestions online about what may be causing the problem, but in the mean time, I thought I'd try a few different types of diapers and see if they fit her better.

I hope the bumGenius works as well for you as it has for us. I used it overnight, with just one insert, and had no leaking or wicking, which is our normal problem with pocket diapers if they're on for a while.

After reading all the DiaperPin reviews of all the diapers out there, I'm convinced it's all very much YBabyMV in terms of fit for any given brand.

I need to buy at least 6 more of something, so I'm in search mode anyway. Even if it's not the OTD, at least I will have ruled it out and there's always eBay.
