(Okay, so I'm a little behind...)

Saturday, the highlight was definitely hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] arliss, [livejournal.com profile] sathinks, [livejournal.com profile] luluminion, [livejournal.com profile] smonsterbite, [livejournal.com profile] calligrafiti, [livejournal.com profile] gchick, [livejournal.com profile] casperflea, Casper and mr. flea. It was totally worth the very long drive. In fact, the drive home was beautiful as the sun was setting over the lake. Still, the company was way better than the drive - Ellie and I had a wonderful time.

Sunday I went to the Dogwood Festival in Fayetteville with my friend D and her husband and daughter. Before we left for the festival, Ellie and I hung out at the their house some. D had made homemade cinnamon rolls with cream chees frosting. They were so good! Then we left for the festival. We mostly just walked around and people watched. Downtown Fayetteville is actually way nicer than the rest of Fayetteville and pretty cute - old buildings and stuff. Ellie was very good and rode in her stroller most of the time. Also, she showed us that she could drink out of a straw.

Monday Joe and I drove to Charleston with Ellie and the H&D, a husband and wife team who will be taking over much of the coffee operation once Joe is gone. Our purpose in Charleston was twofold - we had to drop off my car at the port so it can be shipped to PR and we had to pick up green coffee beans at the office of our importer. Somehow, on the way down, both of the outfits Ellie had managed to get dirty and wet. So, she was wearing her pajamas when we arrived and they were too hot for the weather (and had feet and she wanted to walk around). So, while everyone else was cupping coffee, I took Ellie for a walk down King St. We stopped in a kid's clothing store and I bought her this extremely cute 2 piece outfit - hot pink and baby pink stripes with matching socks. I would never have spent that much normally, but I could tell she was hot and it was bugging me that she was wearing a sleeper at lunchtime. Then we all went to lunch and it was so good! I had mussels and tomato soup for appetizers and pasta with shrimp, bacon and spinach as an entree. Ellie was happy eating bread. The only bad part of the entire meal was that, of course, a restaurant that good had nowhere to change a baby. There was a table in the ladies room with a plant on it. I put the plant on the floor and changed Ellie on their table. It was a struggle but it got the job done. We left around 3 pm and all squeezed in the truck for the ride home.

Today, Joe started the process of getting us out of here. The whole thing reminded me of how much I hate Army bureaucracy. That had told Joe that the three of us needed passports. So, we showed up, and then they said no, we don't need them for PR (which makes sense but isn't what they told Joe originally). However, Joe needed to have some appointment so he filled out some forms about our travel while Ellie and I walked around the office. The lady then asked us about how we would be getting the dogs "
]\to PR. I explained what I knew and asked what she suggested. Her response: I don''t know anything about that and it's not the Army's responsibility anyway. Umm, okay. If you know nothing and won't help, why ask? It just makes me mad because I've researched the best option for us to travel with dogs. Do they care? No. Do we have any input on when/what airline we fly? No. Of course not. I'm so glad I left the Army.

Anyway, Phase 1 of the move is complete and I'm now planning for Phase 2. I just need to find out exactly when they are coming.

Oh, and we totally cleaned the house before we left for Charleston at 5am. It was so worth it because when we came home, a realtor had been there. No word from them, so I'm guessing there's no offer coming, but still, I was glad that we had cleaned.
