ste_noniSo, it seems that Joe was missing an up to date DA photo in his file. We'd been asking if there was anything we could do to speed the process of getting his orders for over five weeks, but last night, this requirement just sort of fell out of the sky. So we raced off to the photo place on Ft. Buchanan this morning and had it done by 9am. It is supposed to be uploaded to their system this afternoon and the IG guy sent Joe an email saying he was forwarding Joe's packet to branch.
Branch is the guy that creates the Request For Orders. You would think that would be like, orders, right? But no, this is a system from the pre-networks and internet days. Instead, the RFO is sent out and the orders are created "locally". I think for us, local is either Savannah, GA or Ft. Knox, but hopefully that won't take more than a day or so. Plus, the one thing we are really anxious about is getting the dates set for the movers and I *think* they will accept an RFO to lock in the dates.
So, I'm hoping we will have the RFO by early next week. Then I can start with the car shipping, plane tickets, dog shipping, deposit returning, and the movers.
