because 1) it's why Joe asked me to do and 2) I figured I may as well confront this issue head on.

Here's the conversation in relevant part:

S: {with much enthusiasm} so I found out today we are having a baby girl!
FIL: Oh, brother!
S: Well, we are pretty happy about it.
FIL: Oh I'm sure. And you still have a long way to go. (not sure if he meant in the pregnancy or in life, as in plenty of time to try again)
S: Well, yeah, a few more months, but now we know and we are excited.

I wasn't as blunt as I could have been, but he wasn't that blunt either. I guess it went okay. My SIL, who was at home, was really excited and that made me happy.

Now that I've called everyone and processed the FIL conversation (see previous post), I can get back to thinking about the happy stuff.

I'm so excited to be having a baby girl. I would have been happy either way, but like I posted at b.org, I feel more familiar or comfortable with a baby girl. Plus, you can buy so many cute little clothes.

More about the visit )

All in all, I'm very happy to know she's a girl and now we just have to get busy and find out her name.
