Showing the House
Apr. 25th, 2006 01:07 pmYesterday, while I was an hour away at Target, a realtor called and wanted to show the house in 20 minutes. I explained to her that it was a mess (baby toys and clothes on the floor, clean laundry on the dining room table, dishes on the counter) but to show it anyway. Then I called my neighbor who very graciously ran over and threw everything in a closet or the dishwasher.
Last night I told myself I would never leave the house so messy again. Lesson learned. This morning, I got a call at 10:25 that a realtor wanted to come at 11:30. Great! I put Ellie down for her nap and started picking up. At 10:30 the door bell rang. There was my realtor's partner, with people! I sort of freaked out, they went to look at the backyard, and now I was really throwing stuff in closets. Finally, they walked in, I asked them to ignore the laundry, I grabbed Ellie and we went for a quick walk. Apparently, this realtor had called and left me a message, but I think I was in the shower. So, after Ellie and I got back home, I finished throwing the laundry in a closet, vacuumed, and headed out with my neighbor for a walk. I can tell the second group was here because the carpet has been walked on.
Three buyers in 24 hours is really really good, but two of them saw the house so messy. And I'm all embarrassed that these people came by when I was so obviously confused and disorganized.
