Today has been so unpleasant. I woke up at 2:45 and lay in bed for an hour or so. Then Ellie woke up at about 4 wanting to nurse, of all things. Well, I have a super strict, no nursing in the middle of the night rule for her. No way are we going down that road. So she whined and cried for a while until I got up with her at 4:30 to get her a snack. I also let the dogs out and they took off until about 5, at which point Joe got up with Ellie and I *tried* to get some sleep.
I was up with Frisco by 6:30. Joe and I washed the cars and I cleaned the inside of mine. It was filthy and full of trash. SO that was good, But then Ellie needed a nap from about 10:30 on. Finally, at two, after several failed attempts, I put the kid in the car and just drove around for a while. They both fell asleep and once we got back home, Ellie napped for about two hours. Frisco dozed on my lap and I got to sit and watch TV in peace for a bit. Of course, Joe and I have been semi-arguing about stupid stuff all day. I think we are both tired and ready for life to get back to normal.
I'm so ready for the holidays to be over. We all, especially Ellie, need to get back to our normal routine. Unfotunately, we still have Three Kings' Day here on Tuesday - the biggest holiday of them all, so life wont' get back to normal until Wednesday at the earliest (and realistically, not until a week from Monday.)
eta: fairness requires that I include that Joe made us a fabulous dinner of scallops, shrimp and steak and I made blueberry cobbler for dessert. It was a great evening, just a crappy day.
