Bridge Collapse
Aug. 2nd, 2007 05:41 amSo, apparently a bridge collapsed in Minneapolis yesterday during rush hour. We don't watch the news so I hadn't heard. Everyone in my family is fine.
Still, I used to drive across that bridge every day. One of my irrational fears as a mom every time I drive over a bridge is that it will collapse and I won't be able to get Ellie out of her car seat.
So, I've been sitting here, looking at the pictures of the bridge sticking out of the Mississippi River, feeling sick. Of course, it's already over and I live almost on the other side of the world. I blame motherhood for softening me in some way. This stuff used to make me feel sad but not in any way lasting longer than 10 seconds. Now, stuff like this can upset me all day.
