I take back everything I said about Stepford. Everyone here has been so friendly. I'm not sure if it's the community or North Carolina in general, but I have never felt so welcome anywhere.

Last night, we went to a neighborhood pool party with a Mexican theme. About 90% of the neighborhood is at least 20-30 years older than us, but that didn't seem to matter. They all joked about how much fun it was to have young people around. There is one other couple our age here and it so happens that we have a few things in common.

I got my books for next semester on Thursday. The UNC campus is so beautiful but it is also huge. I've never been to such a large school before. The bookstore may as well be a Barnes & Noble. I dropped about $550 on textbooks and then got a coffee. Again, a continuation of my experience so far, even the woman who made the coffee was extremely friendly.

I started reading today for class on Thursday - never fun. I'm looking forward to starting school again and seeing what the new school is like, but I'm not looking forward to the first weekend. I'm taking this course where, essentially, you learn how to act in a courtroom for a trial. Of course, it's very performance oriented which is a little scary by itself and since I know no one, I think that adds a dollop of nervousness. Next Thursday, we start this intensive 4-day weekend for this trial course. I guess once that's over, regular classes will be a breeze.

Sounds lovely. Neighborly neighbors are a thing of beauty.
