Wicked

I've heard so many Bitches talk about Wicked that I decided to download it a few weeks ago. With the holidays, I just finally got around to listening to it. I'm making bread this afternoon and it seemed like a good thing to listen to while baking.

Anyway, I was kneading the dough and listening and suddenly I found myself crying. Strong emotion of almost any kind has always moved me to tears. I think I was crying because even though I know almost nothing about the musical (Oz from the Witches' perspective) I've heard lots of Bitches talk about it over the last few years. She's singing about defying gravity and I'm just reminded of how much we all have struggled through and overcome.

You are all an amazing bunch of women (and men, but this song is mostly about women, I think). I don't want to single anyone out because I'm not sure it's fair, but there's something very powerful about this song I'm listening to and it reminds me of many of you amazing women out there!

Guess I'll have to see the musical now.

Yes, a new convert! You will be one with usssss!

It is an amazing song, but then I love every song in it. I believe I can say Wicked has supplanted Phantom of the Opera in my heart for favorite musical. I hope you do get a chance to go see it soon! Sometimes, though, I think they should change the name to Bitches, just for us. You are so right about the people there, they are all strong, wonderful, resilient folks. And don't forget to include yourself, you're one of our sterling examples!
