So, Ellie got to go to school at 8 this morning because Frisco broke his arm last night. We were at church last night and Frisco fell off a maybe 2ft high stage. I could tell immediately that this was a more-serious-than-normal fall and he kept holding his arm and crying even after he had calmed down. He was quiet int he car ride to the hospital and took a long nap while waiting for x-ray. Eventually, but only two hours after we got there, they came and told us that Frisco had a broken thumb. That turned out to be a mistake - the break was a bit down on his radius. They put a splint on it and sent us home.

This morning, we went to see the orthopedic surgeon. He described the break as more of a buckle - like taking a very green tree branch and trying to break it and that's exactly what the x-ray looked like. Because he's so young, and was doing fine, the doctor said Frisco just needed a splint and not a full up to the shoulder, hard cast. So, that's what we got. He's upstairs now napping and seems to be just fine.

Sounds like he is doing well. How are you doing?

I heard a lot of different things last night and this morning. First he was fine, then a broken thumb, then a broken arm, then cast up to the shoulder then just a splint. So since we ended on a splint, it actually was sort of relieving. That, plus the fact that he's not in a lot of pain, has made me feel a bit better.

Still, I do sort of keep thinking "how did my toddler break his arm?" It sounds silly, but I'm glad it happened in front of a lot of people.

Oh no! I am glad it isn't bad and that he's not too upset, but I hope it's better fast!

Thanks. One good thing about being so little was that he got a lot of special attention and was seen pretty quickly, so that helped me. We were in and out of the hospital this morning in two hours. And only two and a half last night.

I'm glad he is doing ok. It is always so stressful when kids are hurt.

And what is it with boys in Colorado and splints. Maybe CJ and Frisco should get together and compare.

Aww, poor kiddo. Sounds like his was worse than mine maybe. I only had to be in a cast (though not to my shoulder!!) for five weeks, though.

The poor baby :-(

Why did they get it wrong last night? Did you go to the surgeon today because you had an idea that they were wrong last night?

Ben had a green stick fracture on a finger when he was a toddler. It healed well and quickly.
