Actually making progress
Jun. 19th, 2005 06:27 pmSince I last posted, we have had several good nights here. I'm still only sleeping 3 hours at a time (maybe 4 if I'm lucky), but I've taken some steps to make is easier for me to cope with. Starting at about 7 pm, we now work to keep Ellie awake until between 9-10. That way, when she finally falls asleep, she sleeps for about 3 hours and I don't have to get up again until midnight. For whatever reason, it's much easier for me to get up if the first time I try to lay down, I'm actually able to sleep.
We had a nice First Father's Day here today. We made lots of special food for Joe (popovers, eggs and sausage for breakfast, lasagna for dinner). I gave Joe some cute framed pictures of Ellie, the dogs, and me, and two really cute Daddy-oriented children's books. One is called "I Love My Daddy" and is about a baby and daddy bear and the other is by Eric Carle and is about daddy seahorses and other fish that care for their baby fish. He is going to read them to Ellie tonight. I'll record it and then I'll have 6 books recorded to play for her over the next few months. Probably will make that part of our bed time ritual as we develop one.
Joe is leaving Tuesday. I've been trying not to think about it, but it's sort of unavoidable.
